This Privacy Policy explains how MaiNeu Development Team ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the MaiNeu mobile application and website (maineu.com). By using MaiNeu, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address and encrypted password — required for account creation and login
App Usage Data
- Menu photos you submit for AI parsing
- Parsed menu content and translations
- Allergen and dietary preference settings you configure
- Subscription and purchase records
Device Information
- Anonymous device identifier
- App version and operating system information
What we do NOT collect:
- Precise location data or GPS coordinates
- Contacts or address books
- Photos from your camera roll (we only process photos you explicitly share through the app)
2. How We Use Your Information
- To deliver AI-powered menu translation and allergen detection services
- To sync your allergen profile across your devices
- To process subscription payments and manage entitlements
- To respond to customer support requests
- To improve service quality using anonymized, aggregated data only
3. Third-Party Services
We share data with the following services only to the extent necessary to provide our services:

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
4. Data Retention

* Archive data: Before any data is moved to archive, all personal identifiers (email address, device ID, user ID) are permanently removed. Archived records cannot be linked back to any individual. If you delete your account before the 3-month period expires, your data is removed immediately from both active storage and archive.
5. Data Security
- All data transmissions use HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Passwords are stored using bcrypt hashing — never in plain text
- Infrastructure is hosted on Cloudflare's globally distributed, security-hardened network
- We regularly review and update our security practices
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access:
- Request a copy of your personal data we hold
- Correction:
- Update inaccurate personal information through the app
- Deletion:
- Delete your account and all associated data — In-app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. By email: maineu.ai@gmail.com with subject "Data Deletion Request"
- Portability:
- Receive your data in a portable format upon request
- Restriction:
- Request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances
Region-specific rights:
- Taiwan (PDPA Art. 3): Access, correction, deletion, and processing restriction
- Japan (APPI): Disclosure, correction, deletion, and suspension of use
- Korea (PIPA): Access, correction, deletion, and withdrawal of consent — we respond within 10 business days
- EU/EEA (GDPR): All rights under Articles 15–22, including the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority
We respond to all data requests within 30 days (10 business days for Korean users, per PIPA Article 38).
7. Children's Privacy
MaiNeu is not directed at children under the age of 13 (14 for Korean users). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact maineu.ai@gmail.com and we will delete it immediately.
8. International Data Transfers
MaiNeu operates globally. Your data may be processed on Cloudflare's infrastructure outside your country of residence. By using MaiNeu, you acknowledge and consent to this transfer. We take appropriate technical and organisational safeguards to protect your data during such transfers.
9. Changes to This Policy
We will notify you of material changes by:
- Posting a prominent notice in the MaiNeu app
- Sending an email to your registered address (for significant changes)
- Updating the effective date at the top of this page
Continued use of MaiNeu after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
